After a brief illness Russell M. Johnson unexpectedly passed away on November 26th, 2005. After the death of Russell M. Johnson, the company was taken over by Scott Johnson, nephew of Mr. Johnson. Shortly thereafter the Commercial Office located at 514 N. Eisenhower Dr. was closed and both Residential and Commercial divisions have been combined and are now located at 801 W. 6th Street in Junction City, KS. In 2016 Matlock Johnson Real Estate was purchased by Darcy Smith who had been with the company since 2014 and continues to operate both the Residential and Commercial divisions.
